Yes, this is the trailer you"ve seen in many pictures and articles. Including the front of the SOTF book. Elsie Mae is a legend and she knows it!
Elsie Mae belonged to Sister #1 for years. I"ve owned her for two years while my original trailer was being repaired. I"ve loved being her foster mom but now it is time to pass her on to another lucky SOTF. Elsie Mae has requested her next mom be a SOTF who will love her proudly.
*She"s an attention seeker: you will get lots of honks, waves and even an occasional knock on the door asking about her.
*She"s a spiritual being: good vibes come flowing from her. She once led me to a campsite in Montana along the Madison River. When I told Maurrie about it she told me that"s where SOTF started -at the fishing launch a bit up the road-.
*She advertises SOTF always: So you better be good when hauling her. No road rage, no cutting folks off and no driving crazy.
*She"s pretty darn original. She has leaked somewhere in her past but repairs have been completed ages ago and she"s very water tight. Her Dixie stove is adorable. The top burners work beautifully I use the stove for storage so I have not tried it.
*No bathroom. I store my porta potty under the table.
*She has a water tank, but I have not used it.
*Original Ice Box -I use it for storage too-.
*Speaking of storage, she has more storage than the average trailer. The fabric baskets are a lifesaver and they will stay with her.
*The bed is a fabulous full size mattress -in the space of a 3/4-. Making the bed is a workout. I used flat sheets on the bottom so I didn"t have to worry about injury!
*The bedding is mine, as well as other items I used to decorate. I have to keep the black and white picture by the headboard, but the others can stay with her. The plaid curtains can stay with her too.
*She pulls very well. The second year I owned her I used an Anderson Weight Distribution hitch. I bought it for my other trailer and I really like them. They are not included in the sale.
Here are the new and improved items in the last 2 years:
*New tires and packed bearings
*New snow coat on the roof
*New propane tanks and new propane system
*New paint -except the greens-
*New decal on the front -yes, I know where Maurrie gets her decals-
*New jack system with roller wheel
*New rain gutters all around
*New table -not original- that swivels
*Vintage lampshades to match the era
*She has a permanent Washington vintage license plate.
*Trailer lights have been repaired and work very well.
Next steps:
*The table does not convert to a twin bed. It needs boards or a piece of wood to make things fit perfectly. It was next on our list.
*Needs new welting in a variety of spots.
*A bit of her original paneling needs to be replaced under the front window. Not a hard job but we did not get to it.
*The front and left side front window are not original. I"ve been trying to replace them with original windows but I"m always a bit late to the game when they come up for sale.
Elsie Mae is located in Spokane, Washington.
