Sister Highlight, our Kansas Wrangler!

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who loved to camp with her two sisters and their parents. They lived in San Diego and enjoyed loading up the truck camper and heading to the mountains, Northern California, Oregon, Washington, the desert, and as many places as Dad’s two-week summer vacation would allow. These three girls grew up to be campers along with husbands, kids, and dogs. One of the little girls was a typical middle child – a peacekeeper, planner, organizer, comedian, and all-around good-natured girl. Who would have known that all these years later, those qualities would qualify me for the job of a SOTF Wrangler!

Just like so many other SOTF members, I learned about Sisters from a magazine article in Trailer Life in March 2011. I became obsessed! My husband, Vernon, said, “you should join!” I replied, “but I don’t have a cute little trailer.” He said, “doesn’t matter, just join!” So I did! Since then, I have owned a 1959 Oasis, a 2017 Shasta Reissue, and now a 2022 Rpod 190. Together Vernon and I have a Thor Freedom Elite Class C motorhome because in MY little trailer, No Boys Are Allowed!

SOTF has meant so much to me and allowed me to go places I’ve never been and meet people who are now lifelong friends – no, they are family! My middle child personality has served me well as a Wrangler for Kansas (along with Denise Mahone #2614) to plan events for our state, host campouts, and encourage other sisters to step forward and plan some wonderful events. I’m now helping to organize our upcoming BIG event – The Heartland Gathering in Branson MO this September. The middle child also knows how to calm the drama that sometimes takes place or cheer a sister who needs a little extra love. That would be me!

Oh, and I’m pretty good at talking people into doing things – just ask my little sister, Christie Ponnwitz Sister #10123. I told her to join SOTF and she did!
