Best Sister-Sung Holiday Records
We all know that it takes a woman to make a holiday happen, so who better than these Queen Bees to belt out the tunes as the meals get made, the gifts get wrapped, and the house (or trailer) gets decorated.
Here are our favorite Holiday heroines to help you (merrily!) check off your list.
Try not sing along! I dare you! And turn the volume up while you do because Mariah’s pipes are one in a million and we can’t touch her high notes.
Track: “All I Want for Christmas is You”
A string of classics performed with all the gusto you would expect from Barbara. A little of that ‘twinkle in the eye’ humor too.
Track: “Jingle Bells”
Ok, this is a duo but we all know its Karen’s voice that makes it magical. Her vocals are the perfect mix of bright and tender which makes for a very true-to-life musical experience of the holidays.
Track: “What are you doing New Year’s Day”
Pull over. Stop everything you’re doing. An angel is singing. This record may cause fits of comfort and joy.
Track: “Oh Holy Night”
Amy Grant casually recorded an incredibly inspiring holiday record when she was 22 and released it like it was no big deal. Ms. Grant even co-wrote new carols like the warm-hearted, “Tennessee Christmas.”
She doesn’t just sing holiday songs in ‘Elf!’ Zooey Deschanel, aka Jovie, has a whole record of honey-sung, holiday-songs. Hit play on this one when you need a simple, calm, holiday moment to yourself.
Track: “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”
